I had the pleasure of attending a chef’s dinner at The Public House (located in Las Vegas in The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian) with six other International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association a few weeks back. While most chef dinners I attend are usually food & wine pairings, this was a beer & food pairing. The results? Five dynamite upscale courses of pure genius. If you haven’t tried a beer & food pairing you’re missing a unique experience. If you haven’t been to an American gastropub — you REALLY need to. This is definitely not your local sports bar, supermarket beer on tap, hamburgers and pretzel experience. Instead think laid back but classy decor, hand crafted beers and upscale cuisine…but pretty much at a beer price point.
If you’re going to be in Las Vegas April 2-7, 2012, you have an opportunity to celebrate National Beer Day at the Public House. Heck, even if you weren’t thinking of going to Vegas, you should …this is such a special event you might just want to book a room at the all- suite Venetian and indulge. Think an American gastropub celebrating National Beer Day with a prix fixe menu and beer pairing as well as the introduction of the fun and creative new “Pub Club” from Monday, April 2 through Saturday, April 7.
The three-course meal priced at $48 per person begins with the Scotch Egg paired with a Firestone Double Barrel Ale. The main-course will feature Public House’s mouthwatering Beer Braised Short Rib (Click here for Recipe) paired with a smooth Deschutes Black Butte Porter. Ending the experience is something sweet. Patrons will enjoy Irish Coffee Cheesecake paired with a Uinta Labyrinth.
Everyone knows that winery’s all have some kind of wine club. The Public House will introduce their new Pub Club that includes a beer passport for guests to complete 50 selections of beer stemming from 24 on tap, one cask and 25 bottles or cans. Beer aficionados can enroll in the Pub Club by paying a first-time only $5 membership fee in addition to the price of the first qualifying pub club beer they purchase. Patrons who indulge in the National Beer Day prix-fixe menu will automatically be entered into the program with the opportunity to complete three beers from the passport. Graduates of the Pub Club will receive a Public House T-shirt and a $50 gift card to the restaurant. Now I call that wickedly creative fun.
And hey…if you don’t have time for the whole sit down dinner experience join the Public House for a complimentary beer toast on Saturday, April 7 at 5 p.m.
Public House is located on Restaurant Row in The Venetian.
