A new holiday tradition to rival Pumpkin Spice
Apple Cider & Cranberry Jam Ice Cream

Apple Cider Cranberry
By Bobbie Kitto
I recently had the great fortune to open my front door and find a box that had just been delivered. Opening the box I found two containers of ice cream from McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams to review.
What luck I thought, the next day I was going to a senior center potluck and I didn’t have a clue what to bring. The ice cream was called Apple Cider & Cranberry Jam so I decided to pair that with some homemade Cranberry and Apple cookies. The cookies were not memorable but the ice cream was.
All around I kept hearing “Did you taste that ice cream? It was great.” The combination of the apple cider ice cream and the tart cranberry jam swirled all through it was winning combination.
The reaction to this ice cream was no surprise. It is the collaboration of two family owned companies that have been doing what they do best for years. The ice cream is made by McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams in Santa Barbara, Ca. They have been making their brand of ice cream with local grass-grazed milk and cream for over 70 years. In 2022 they teamed up with S. Martinelli’s & Company, the gold medal apple cider makers. You’ve seen the name for years in your local supermarket because of their apple cider. Their drink is made from 100% juice and US-grown apples. They’ve been making cider since 1868.
Lots of people asked where they could buy it. I told them they could start to purchase on November 1st at McConnell’s on line store or call 905-963-8813 and at the Martinelli’s Company store in Watsonville, Ca. on Nov 3rd. I reminded them this product sells out fast and is usually is out of stock before the end of November. I want you to taste the holiday mashup between Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider and McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams so check the upscale markets near you or buy online.
So maybe no one asked for my cookie recipe, but they will remember who brought the best dessert.
