Should All Charcuterie Boards Be Identical?
Nope! Try a meatless charcuterie board
Article by Bobbie Kitto
While traditional charcuterie boards typically include a variety of cured meats, they can absolutely create a delicious and visually appealing spread using just nuts, cheeses, vegetables, and fruits. Here’s how to incorporate these elements into a meatless charcuterie board.
One of the most unique cheeses I have been introduced to is a product from CheeseBits. This artisanal cheese made in Europe is now made in Northern California with the milk being supplied by the local dairies. They carry the Real California Milk seal. This cheese is a silver medal winner in 2023 at the American Cheese Society and Judging competition in the International Style with flavor category.
Their Mozzamini pearls are truly a sight to behold, captivating with their pearl-like appearance. These delicate morsels combine fresh mozzarella and mild provolone in their original flavor, enhanced with enticing taste profiles. For those seeking an adventure, the wood-smoked Mozzamini pearls or the Wasabi-infused variations are sure to excite the palate and live up to their flavorful reputations. For a distinctive twist, consider indulging in the Strawberry pearls for a unique and memorable flavor experience.
These “pearls” would look great gracing an impromptu neighborhood gathering Charcuterie board on a summer’s Eve or a more formal gathering at an engagement party. All these unique cheeses can be purchased at stores like Krogers, Raley’s, and Harris-Teeter.
I recommend including some of Jake’s Nut Roasters’ nuts on the Charcuterie board. Upon trying their Mesquite Smoked nuts, I instantly became a fan. Their Bleu Cheese and Cracked Pepper almonds, which are their best-selling variety, are sure to add deliciousness to any gathering. An intriguing option from Jake’s Nut Roasters is their Bloody Mary almonds. All these nut selections are crafted in small batches to uphold high quality standards. You can find these nuts available for purchase in stores across the Northwest, Northern and Southern California, as well as on Amazon or directly from www.jasperspecialtyfoods.com.
To complete the Charcuterie board selections, turn to Melissa’s Produce for vegetables, fruits, and health-conscious sweet treats. Browsing through their website, you’ll discover a variety of unique and aesthetically pleasing items to enhance our board. Consider adding vibrant tree-ripened mangos and red and green Muscato grapes for a colorful addition. Don’t overlook the availability of baby pineapples from Melissa’s. For a different texture and crunch, include Melissa’s Clean Snax in flavors like Coconut with Turmeric, Chile Lime, and almond. If you’re looking to incorporate chocolate into the board, consider Melissa’s chocolate-covered Espresso Beans for a delightful addition. Their website to order these delicious items is: https://www.melissas.com/
By combining these elements thoughtfully and arranging them artfully on a serving board or platter, one can create a beautiful and satisfying meatless charcuterie board that caters to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. Feel free to experiment with different combinations and adjust based on personal preferences and the occasion. The main idea is to have fun being creative and giving your guests a unique experience.
